Kilimanjaro Live was founded by Stuart Galbraith (CEO) in 2008 following an approach from AEG Live to form a joint venture to create a live music promoter with an aim to generate a pipeline of artists to play in AEG owned and operated venues. Stuart’s career had started at concert promoters MCP in the early 1980s and he went on to become MD of Live Nation UK and during that time he had been involved in a wide variety of major live music moments such as Live Aid, Live 8 and Live Earth, the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Hyde Park, Oasis at Knebworth Park and the founding of the Download, Hyde Park Calling and Wireless festivals.
Following a charity climb in Tanzania Stuart named the company after the mountain and its profile remains the Kili logo to this day. In 2012 Stuart led an MBO and acquired the company from AEG Live becoming its owner as well as Chief Executive, with Senior Promoter Steve Tilley becoming a director and shareholder in 2013. Stuart and Steve then went on to sell a controlling stake to DEAG Deutsche Entertainment Group in the spring of 2014, creating a highly effective partnership with the Berlin based company.
